Abstract
- The article discusses the approval of the International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature (ICZN) on the conservation of the use of nine specific names of common Australian birds. The names were labeled senior by First Revisers and eventually replaced almost a hundred years ago by simultaneously published named on grounds of page precedence. Based on the ruling, the names albogularis, auricomis, crepitans, garrulus, mellivora, picata as published in the binomen Columba picata, picata as published in the binomen Gracula picata, and viridis as published in the binomen Gracula viridis are suppressed for the Purposes of the Principle of Priority but not for those of the Principle of Homonymy.
