Abstract

The article offers information on the history of Butterfield Overland Mail Co. and its contribution to mail delivery services and route discovery across the U.S. It says that the stagecoaches of the Butterfield Overland Mail route rendered the best means to deliver the letters, packages, and passengers. It mentions that the Apache Pass in Arizona was considered the most infamous stop of the mail route. Moreover, it notes that the Butterfield operations helped open the West part to settlement.
