Abstract
- An encyclopedia entry for James Berry is presented. Born in 1852, James was a British hangman. According to Berry, he had no problems with hanging an innocent man because the crime committed involved the law and not him. On November 30, 1885, he was able to decapitate Robert Goodale, a murderer, despite lowering the drop to five feet nine inches.
