HOUSEHOLDS INCOME IN ROMANIA BEFORE THE ECONOMIC CRISIS.

The paper presents some results of an empirical research on income distribution in Romania. It is concerned with the state of things before the beginning of economic crisis and the evolution of disposable income and inequality during 1995-2008. The income inequality is measured by estimating a set of indicators proposed in the literature (Gini, Theil, Atkinson, Kuznets and gaps between groups defined by distribution quintiles and deciles); it is also measured by gaps between households grouped according socioeconomic variables.
