Abstract
- The article explores the history of Holyrood Park at Drumsheugh forest in Edinburgh, Scotland. The forest, where Arthur's Seat and the Salisbury Crags can be seen, was first formed when King James I had it enclosed in 1540. The Monastery of the Holyrood was constructed in 1141 followed by a much larger abbey that was constructed between 1195 and 1230. The most elaborate and major changes occurred in the palace was during the reign of Charles I, when architect Sir William Bruce was commissioned to remodel Holyrood House.
