Abstract

The article focuses on the issue of meeting the revolving vocabulary demands of learning contexts in augmentative and alternative communication (AAC). It discusses the dominance of high-frequency vocabulary in interpersonal communication, and how the use of paraphrasing them enhances the teaching-learning situations. It also notes how descriptive method is more effective than referential vocabulary approach in teaching vocabulary. Moreover, it sites the two-fold role of speech clinicians.
