Abstract

In this article the author discusses the impact of the geographical location of Islam to its scientific, economic, and political influence. He notes the potential of the Islamic world to be weakened by the rise of the Atlantic-centered economy from the 16th century onwards. He mentions that Islam has suffered from external political an economic strategies driven by a desire to control and influence territory providing access to resources and strengthening power.
