Abstract

The article discusses a study on the factors contributing to long-term changes in coral community structure in two locations affected minimally by anthropogenic pollutants and sedimentation off Mona and Desecheo Islands in Puerto Rico. Results show that the outward expansion of lesions associated with bleaching occurred in an irregular and random manner. The maximum diameter is one of the methods used to examine the change in size structure of corals. The most abundant coral taxon at the site was Montastraea annularis. Also described is the coral cover.
