Preliminary evaluation of a prototype welfare monitoring system for sows and piglets (Welfare Quality project).

The article evaluates a prototype monitoring system, that was developed for sows and piglets, on farms in Great Britain and the Netherlands. The initial examination of the data shows that the incidence of clinical welfare problems were low. Researchers also noted some form of stereotyped behaviour among three-fourths of the farms examined.
