Open data initiative gathers momentum.

The article reports on the advancements in the British government's plan to open up state data online with reference to the launch of a beta version of the web site www.data.gov.uk. With more than 1,000 datasets for developers were set by the Cabinet Office to test the potential for re-using information. According Emer Coleman, head of a project at the Greater London Authority, the project will allow people to make more informed decisions along with transferring costs out of the public sector.
