Abstract
- The article discusses three elements, namely the owner, animal or patient and the environment, whose interaction affects the outcome of the treatment of canine periodontal disease. It is noted that an effective periodontal treatments demand extensive home care and maintenance therapy. A review of the definition of the term "periodontal disease" is offered. Also tackled are the factors that must be considered in developing a reasonable and attainable treatment plan, including the financial capabilities of the owner.
