Abstract

The article presents an experimental and numerical study on the motion characteristics involved in side-by-side moored liquefied natural gas floating production storage and offloading (LNG-FPSO) facility and a liquefied natural gas carrier during offloading operations. The study used a time-domain numerical simulation program to solve the coupled dynamics that could develop a design for ship-to-ship mooring and fenders. The developed program was compared with a set of model tests in wind, current and waves which validated the motion responses.
