Abstract
- This presentation will report findings related to victimization by police officers who commit crimes in a study of 647 sworn law enforcement officers arrested in 2005-2006. Measurement of victims' gender, age, and relationship to arrested officers suggest that patterns of victimization are persistent across multiple NIBRS categories of criminal offenses, years of service as a police officer/offender, age of police officer/offender, and relationship/age of victims. Patterns of victimization vary based on offenders' agency type (municipal police, county police, primary state police, special police, and sheriff agencies), victim age/gender, as well as crime types (crimes of violence, sexual crimes, crimes of greed, and alcohol/drug-related crimes). ..PAT.-Unpublished Manuscript [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
