Abstract
- The article discusses a collection of papers related to the Johnson family. The author notes the arrival of settler Robert Johnson in New Haven, Connecticut and the construction of an Episcopal church by clergyman Samuel Johnson in Stratford, Connecticut. His son William Samuel Johnson served in the Stamp Act Congress and later as a U.S. senator. The Johnson family papers were divided among the U.S. Library of Congress, Columbia University's library and the Connecticut Historical Society. The papers include documents related to the Stamp Act Congress, letters to Samuel Johnson during his service as president of King's College, later to become Columbia University, and letters written by William Samuel Johnson.
