Abstract

The article focuses on the 1950 documentary film "Memories of a Mexican" (Memorias de un Mexicano) by Mexican director Carmen Toscano, based on archive materials of pioneering Mexican film director Salvador Toscano. It considers its depiction of the early 20<superscript>th</superscript> century Mexican revolution, discusses its historiographic approach to the period and reflects on public opinion about the movie since the 1950s. The author also discusses the film's portrayal of patriotism and reflects on its modernist aesthetics.
