Abstract
- An encyclopedia entry for "Jupiter," a planet in the solar system, is presented. It presents the planet's astronomical constants, with respect to its distance from the Sun. The planet, named for the Roman ruler of the gods, was the focus of the astronomical studies by Italian scientist Galileo Galilei. The planet, considered the largest one in the solar system, can be viewed with the naked eye. Also noted in the entry is the planet's orbit and rotation, atmosphere, surface and composition and natural satellites.
