Abstract

The article offers information about the incidence and pathogenesis of infectious endophthalmitis following intravitreal injection. It cites developments in intravitreal injection's role as a treatment for retinal disease. It also considers guidelines for intravitreal injection prophylaxis and examines the incidence of endophthalmitis with respect to various therapeutic categories such as anti-viral agents, triamcinolone acetonide and anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF).
