Abstract
- The article presents a study that deals with the effects of psychiatric disorders on adherence to highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) in HIV-infected women and men. The study used the VIH: Enquête Sur les Personnes Atteintes (VESPA) national cross-sectional survey to study 4,963 HIV-infected patients from 102 French hospitals. Selected participants are 446 women and 1,363 men who were receiving HAART with complete adherence and psychiatric disorders assessment. The authors highlighted the need for interventions to improve adherence.
