Abstract

Chapter 5 of the book "The Herculaneum Pottery: Liverpool's Forgotten Glory" is presented. I explores production of earthenware in 1796, the pottery advertisements, the chamber pot as the first Herculaneum object made and the pearlware similar to the porcelain ware of the Chinese. It highlights the undecorated pearlware plates and cups, the pearlware with glaze and with shell edge decorations, the European designs in Herculaneum pottery and the use of the blue glaze by transfer process.
