Abstract
- The article investigates on the health and welfare implications of bile extractions on farmed bears in China. Information was gathered from 15-year interviews of bear farmers, Chinese officials, and practitioners of traditional Chinese medicine. The researchers visited 50 bear farms and observed 250 bears rescued from bile farms. According to the article, the rescued bears showed signs of severe and chronic physical and psychological suffering.
