Abstract
- The article presents an overview of issues related to East Asian bilateral relations. It relates the selection of Japan, Indonesia, South Korea and China for the first official trip overseas of U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. It discusses the impact of the announcement made by North Korean leader Kim Jong-il to conduct a satellite launch in early April 2009 and describes the drama surrounding the ballistic missile launch. It discusses the status of the Six-Party Talks.
