Abstract

The article focuses on the use of the microblogging service Twitter by U.S. military officers in order to communicate with soldiers. One of them is Air Force Senior Master Sergeant Rex Temple, who shares stories about the war in Afghanistan. Blogging veteran J. P. Borda stated that the military will increasingly engage in microblogging due to Twitter. According to Army Sergeant Selena Coppa, Twitter is increasingly becoming popular because it is similar to instant messaging (IM).
