Abstract

The article reports that the British Office of Fair Trading (OFT) is questioning the increasing occurrence of paid government advertisements in council publications. A review accompanying the "Digital Britain" report of Lord Carter states that advertising more in government publications than in commercial and independent newspapers has an adverse impact on local media. Such trend will work against public interest as well, notes the report.
