The article focuses on the international migrations of Brazilians, and especially studies the return of immigrants to Brazil. According to the article, immigrants coming back to Brazil are mostly returning from Paraguay, the U.S., and Japan. Based on these three cases of Brazilian migrations, the article proposes an analysis of return immigration compared to the reasons why people left in the first place. The importance of social characteristics in the examination of migratory movements is explored.
