Abstract

The article discusses a methodology of considering ergonomics in the process of designing means of access (MAs) in ships in order to prevent slips, trips and falls (STFs) and the application of the methodology in the development of guidelines for improving MAs design. A risk analysis and an anthropometric analysis implemented as part of the guidelines development are described. The methodology involves simulations and obtaining user feedback. It is noted that the guidelines increase the safety of ship personnel.
