Abstract
- The article discusses a study which employed a design based methodology for benchmarking vortex induced vibration (VIV) prediction tools against a comprehensive set of experiments. Key aspects of benchmarking are scaling, geometry, response character, comparison and physical quantity. The bare and 50% strake coverage strain comparison for uniform and linear shear current is shown, as well as the fatigue damage index comparison for 50% strake cases in uniform and linear shear flow.
