Abstract
- The article focuses on a study which explored the treatment of low stresses in fatigue design of girth welds of offshore structures under spectrum loading. Under constant and variable loading, fatigue tests were conducted on strip specimens cut from girth-welded steel pipes. Results of the fatigue test were examined based on Miner's rule used in conjunction with various methods of extrapolating the stress-life (S-N) curve beyond the constant amplitude fatigue limit.
