Abstract

The article reports that the U.S. Health and Human Services Department's (HHS) Indian Health Service (IHS) is offering funds to assist tribes in promoting healthy practices for American Indian (AI) and Alaskan Native (AN) school age children in community settings as part of its children and youth projects (CYPs) program. It states that the HHS' maternal and child health (MCH) program goals for CYPs include promoting age-appropriate healthy nutrition and emphasizing the cardiovascular fitness.
