Abstract
- An essay is presented on the life of journalist turned border revolutionary Catarino Garza. It reports that Garza played an active role in resisting the then president of Mexico Porfirio Díazz, and discusses his armed insurgency of 1891. It discusses his struggle against racial harassment in the U.S. and political attacks from the Mexican government, faced by the groups along Texas-Mexico border. Also discussed is the role of gender and patriarchal values in Garza's revolutionary efforts.
