Abstract

The article focuses on the role of stories and literature of culture in building peace and society development. It presents three traditional tales that affirm the capacity of literature not only to build peace and development, but also to integrate the insights of the people regarding their understanding on the role of conflict and how it should be addressed. It is concluded that literary culture is a valuable tool to promote social consciousness, intercultural dialogue and understanding.
