Race, economics and medical care focus of conference.

The article discusses the highlights of the 2009 fourth annual Texas Conference on Health Disparities, hosted by the Texas Center for Health Disparities and the UNT Health Science Center, with the theme "Targeting Health Disparities Through Prevention." The future of health care as it related to minorities is the focus of the addresses by guest speakers Fernando Torres-Gil and Lovell Jones. Conference sessions also tackled prevention strategies in medicine as well as in the community, the health benefits of exercise and physical activity interventions.
