The article focuses on the collections of video recordings available at the Bibliothèque Nationale de France (BNF), the National library of France, whose origin is the registration of copyright, extended to videos since 1975. According to the article these collections cover all the videos that have been shown to an audience, whether it was for commercial or non-commercial purposes, and it only excludes personal or family videos. The author points out that the BNF is also archiving since 2006 videos circulating on the Internet thanks to the same process.
