Abstract
- The article presents an examination of several different historiographical perspectives of the Jewish Holocaust. Contrasts are offered between Western and Slovak thematic methodologies of studying the Nazi war crimes of World War II. An overview of several frameworks for contextualization is provided, including discussion of the settlement policy of the Germans in Eastern Europe, the chain of command in implementing orders for the atrocities, and the economic and ideological driving forces behind the "final solution." Comments are also included noting ways in which Slovak historiography can benefit from new avenues of study through these perspectives.
