Abstract
- The article offers information on mine warfare. Since World War II, mines have damaged or sunk fourteen U.S. Navy ships. Among the woods used to construct the hulls of the Avenger-class mine countermeasures ships of the Navy are oak, Douglas fir and Alaskan cedar. The earliest use of naval mines was recorded in the 16th-century China.
