Abstract
- The article presents a paper by Iowa state representative Charles Aldrich concerning the murders and expedition to Spirit Lake, Iowa in 1857. The paper discusses the massacre by the Sioux Indians and also mentions the memoirs of the only survivor, Abbie Gardner Sharp. Members of the Spirit Lake settlement mentioned in the paper include William L. Church, Drusilla Swanger, and Willie Thomas.
