Abstract

The article describes the case of a 32-year-old Maori man who was diagnosed with Mycobacterium chelonae infection on the sites of his tattoos. The patient complained of worsening erythema, edema and pain in the tattoo sites. The infection was found to be introduced by a trauma to the patient's skin due to tattooing. The patient was placed under an antimicrobial treatment regimen for four months.
