Abstract

Chapter 4 of the book "Risky Lessons: Sex Education & Social Inequality" is presented. It explores the ways sex education is taught in schools. Conservatives try to retain the sacredness of sexuality, whereas liberals promote comprehensive sex education to avoid the dangers produced by lack of information. Most sex educators use media that make sex look natural and normal, avoiding controversy. Teachers, who present sexuality only as matters of factual information, only mystify the topic of sex.
