Abstract

The article recalls the role played by U.S. 8th Army Chief of Staff Eugene M. Landrum in saving U.S. forces during the Pusan Perimeter battle against North Koreans in 1950. He went with Lieutenant General William Walker to Korea where the latter was assigned to command all U.S. ground forces after the North Koreans attacked across the 38th Parallel in June. It was stated that Landrum set the defense plan and provided the manpower for it during the battle. Landrum reportedly retired as a major general and died in 1967.
