Abstract

The article discusses the implementation of a programmed heating control and delay strategy at the Steel Authority of India Limited's (SAIL) Bhilai steel plant. The system was used for the reheating furnaces of the plant, located at Bhilai in Chattigarh, India. The computerized Level-II process control system was developed by R&D Center for Iron and Steel (RDCIS) to be able to determine the optimum zonal set temperatures under a given condition.
