Abstract
- Chapter 6 of the book "Power, Meaning and Identity: Essays in Critical Educational Studies," by Michael W. Apple is presented. It discusses the major documents supporting the reform "Curriculum and Evaluation Standards for School Mathematics" in 1989 and the "Professional Standards for Teaching Mathematics" in 1991. It points out that the success or failure on the efforts to reform teaching and curricula particularly in mathematics depends on the ability to deal with them seriously.
