Abstract

The article presents the author's response to the comments to his article on tonsillectomy in children. Tonsillectomy involves complete removal of the tonsil. According to the author, partial resection of the tonsils in children has several advantages. The author opines that apart from postoperative hemorrhage, all listed complications of tonsillectomy are rare. The complications include emphysema, pneumomediastinum, necrotizing fasciities, meningitis, and damage to the recurrent laryngeal nerve. The author states that it would have been useful to define these complications accordingly.
