Abstract
- Chapter 9 of the book "Social Studies--The Next Generation: Re-searching in the Postmodern" is presented. It provides information on several orientations to the teaching and learning of history and what each makes possible or impossible. It reengages claims made by Seixas regarding these orientations from within a critical, postmodern discourse. It argues that all orientations teach some elements of the discipline and that the term disciplinary might actually be better to the postmodern approach rather than to the disciplinary approach.
