Abstract

The article provides studies on the effect of antiretroviral therapy on cardiovascular disease presented during the 2009 Conference on Retroviruses and Opportunistic Infections in Quebec. The Data Collection on Adverse Events of Anti-HIV Drugs study shows individual agents associated with the risk of myocardial infarction. The Women's Interagency HIV Study and the Multicenter AIDS Cohort Study uphold that there is no association between abacavir and elevated levels of the inflammatory markers.
