Abstract
- Chapter 19 of the book "Black Women's Intellectual Traditions: Speaking Their Minds," edited by Kristin Waters and Carol B. Conaway is presented. It provides a path for black women's studies in political science by drawing on black feminist theory to review approaches used by trained political scientists in measuring the simultaneous effects of race and gender. It suggests for political scientists to design survey items that will capture oppression as experienced by African-American women.
