GLE files first part of license application with NRC.

The article reports on the move by Global Laser Enrichment (GLE) on January 30, 2009 to file with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission one part of a license application to build a laser-based uranium enrichment plant. GLE, a business venture of General Electric Co., Hitachi Ltd. and Cameco Corp., plans to submit the remainder of the application by June. The uranium enrichment plant will be constructed at the site of the GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy headquarters in Wilmington, North Carolina.
