Abstract

The article discusses two court cases which determine the rightful claimant of the works of art left behind after the restaurant enterprises failed. The defendant owners of the premises in the first case retained the works until the person who are entitled for them was identified, but are held liable to the claimant in conversion. The defendant owner of the premises in the second case plead that the works of art belongs to someone other than the claimant who originally brought the pieces.
