Abstract
- The article offers information on the history and development of actions for the recovery of cultural heritage. It notes that the Treaty of Westphalia in 1648 has established provision for returning the objects stolen during the Thirty Years' War, and later, 21 manuscripts were moved as a gift to the Landesarchiv in Brünn. Moreover, the long time Medieval manuscript made in 1229 was moved to Prague in 1594. During the twentieth century, the Declaration of London in 1943 was enforced by various legal instruments which insures that the international principle of restitution affirmed by the Allies would not be nullified by infringing provisions in national law.
