Abstract

The article discusses research on the role of lymph node assessment (LNA) in women with ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS). It references a study by M. R. Porembka and colleagues published in the 2008 issue of the "Annals of Surgical Oncology." The researchers conducted a case-control study to identify variables associated with LNA in DCIS patients and the use of axillary lymph node dissection (ALND) compared with sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB). Findings revealed no persistent and excessive utilization of ALND for LNA in women with DCIS.
