Abstract
- A speech by the author upon her acceptance of the presidency of the Academía de Geografía e Historia de Guatemala (Academy of Geography and History of Guatemala) is presented. She reflects on the history of the academy and its role in the promotion of Guatemalan history. She also discusses her love of history, citing various works that drew her into a profession in history, such as "Hernán Cortés," by Salvador de Madariaga.
