Abstract
- The article discusses written financial instruments, likened to "toxic paper," that are at the root of misunderstanding and mistrust of U.S. financial markets and institutions. It points to the need for U.S. President Barack Obama and U.S. treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner to restore trust in such paper instruments. The article suggests that all mortgages, bonds, and derivatives should be defined, standardized, and recorded like other property documents to understand their value.
